Southern Style Succotash

A new variation on classic succotash--we've added okra and stewed tomatoes.

  • 2 tablespoons margarine or butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper
  • 3 cups Kellogg's Corn Flakes® cereal Buy Now
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 can (28 oz.) stewed tomatoes, drained
  • 1 can (8oz.) tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper
  • 1 package (1lb.) frozen, cut okra, thawed
  • 1 package (10 oz.) frozen whole kernel corn, thawed


1. In 12-inch fry pan, heat margarine, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and red
pepper over low heat. Add KELLOGG'S CORN FLAKES cereal, stirring gently until
cereal becomes lightly browned and crisp. Set aside for topping.

2. Coat 12-inch fry pan with cooking spray. Saute onions, green pepper and garlic.
Add remaining ingredients. Cook, stirring occasionally until okra is tender. Sprinkle
with topping. Serve hot.
