Mocha Bran Brownies

Mmmm... mocha. These rich, moist squares elevate the lowly brownie to a whole new level of sophistication. The rich mocha flavor means that these luscious treats are decidedly grown-up. Serve them warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It's heaven on a plate!

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee crystals
  • 1/3 cup margarine or butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 package (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate morsels
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup Kellogg's® All-Bran® Bran Buds® cereal Buy Now


1. Stir together flour, soda, salt and coffee; set aside.

2. Combine margarine, sugar and water in 2-quart saucepan; bring just to boil,
over medium heat, stirring constantly. remove from heat. Add chocolate,
stirring until melted and smooth. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.

3. Add dry ingredients and cereal; mix well. Spread in greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch
baking pan.

4. Bake in 325° F oven about 25 minutes. When cool frost with coffee flavored
icing, if desired. Cut into 2-inch squares to serve.

Variation: 1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts may be added with the cereal.
