Barbecued Meat Loaves

Handle the meat mixture gently when shaping these individual meat loaves. Over mixing or compressing the ground meat will give it a texture that is too firm after cooking.

  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups Kellogg's Corn Flakes® cereal Buy Now
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2/3 cup chili sauce
  • 2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar


1. In large mixing bowl, combine egg, milk, onion, salt and pepper. Beat well. Add KELLOGG'S CORN FLAKES cereal. Stir to combine. Let stand 2 minutes or until cereal softens. Beat well. Add beef. Mix only until combined. Shape into 6 small loaves. Place in greased or foil-lined shallow baking pan.

2. In small bowl, mix chili sauce, brown sugar, mustard and vinegar. Brush or spoon onto loaves.

3. Bake at 350° F about 30 minutes for medium doneness or until done (160 degrees F). Serve hot.

Yield: 6 loaves
